“How do you assess risks and threats to you personally?”
Personal security is an individual responsibility.
Security risk can be reduced using common sense and precautionary actions. You - the individual - play the most important role in maintaining your personal security.
The best way to be safe is to avoid trouble in the first place, rather than try to extract yourself later.
This means that you should develop a strong sense of security awareness and adjust your behaviour to take into account the environment in which you find yourself and the possible risks related to it.
Self-protection is more than learning a few simple yells and carrying an alarm to ward of attackers.
It is a habit of mind; self-protection is the way you think, dress and walk. You have a traffic light in your head that will tell you information all the time. When something doesn’t feel quite right, listen to that feeling ... "Never ignore your instinct."
Over the next few weeks, i will provide a series of blogs with information that builds up your knowledge of personal safety.
