Most organisations will have policies and procedures in place for what to do if the fire alarm sounds, or disaster recovery plans to cope with serious system failures, but many do not have anything in place to help better protect staff who travel overseas in the course of their work, or those in situations of vulnerability such as lone workers.
For example, procedures for pre-planning trips overseas, or what to do in the event of a natural disaster, kidnapping or terrorist attack are often overlooked – probably because we think it’ll never happen to us.
POLICY REVIEW
The Protaris team can review any of your current procedures and make recommendations to strengthen them ensuring your staff are as protected as possible. For areas where policy does not exist, Protaris can design them in alignment with business operations and then provide a staff training programme to ensure that new or amended policies are rolled out across your personnel in a cohesive manner with a clear audit trail.
TRAINING & TESTING
How do you know if your staff are following the organisation’s policies? How can you make improvements to policy to ensure they are keeping up with ever-evolving environments? The answer is simple – by training and testing those policies. Protaris can design a series of scenario tests and desktop exercises that tests the efficacy of policy and ensure that your staff fully understands what is expected of them.
INCIDENT REPORTING
We often hear from delegates that reporting of incidents is not prevalent practice in organisations, with many incidents being dismissed as ‘not serious’. As part of a policy review and subsequent training, Protaris highly recommends that this area is fully addressed and robust procedures are in place to ensure ALL incidents are reported. Employees also have a duty of care towards each other and incident reporting can be vital in ensuring the safety and welfare of their colleagues.
